The client wrote a series of poems and published them in book form. I was contacted to design a book cover that reflected the era of the Rune stone. I was supplied with an image of a cave drawing that had been downloaded off the internet, but the image was only 72dpi and not suitable for print. Therefore, the image needed to be re-created, which was accomplished utilizing adobe illustrator and adobe Photoshop. Rune writing was used as far back as the 2nd century and was carved in stone. Many cultures, including the Vikings, Scandinavians and the English, practiced these writings. In order to mirror the writing style and typography of the era RUNEnglish 1 font was applied.  To add drama and mystique to the look of the cover, oxblood red was employed for the font color.
